Two-faced faith will literally kill you from the inside out…

Proverbs 10:9 ESV
“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”
It’s that time of the year…the time when this passage shows itself to be true in the lives of students. They’ve been keeping secrets and thinking they’re getting away with them but then the Bible comes true.
It’s always a hard conversation when the truth catches up but I try to keep it in front of them that it is God’s grace that caught them in the first place, with more time in the sin, more damage would have been caused. I know it’s hard when our sin catches up to us to maintain that perspective but the Bible is always true.
The two-faced faith of many students isn’t good for them and its not bringing honor to God. We all wrestle with authenticity and sin but we must also remember that patterns of sin are patterns of pain and there are no exceptions.
Probably the hardest part of recovery from these situations is talking with students about the difference between the immediate forgiveness and grace available to them from God and the very immediate consequences on earth for their choices; from academic suspensions, to disease, to pregnancy, and even just the lost trust with so many people they care about.
If you’re reading this and wrestling through two-faced faith living, seek someone out and confess before more damage is done and more trust is lost.
Two-faced faith will literally kill you from the inside out…
